Although I'm a hikker, I've met a lot of incredible cycling adventurers on my travels and at work, and obviously @gonzalo.zamorano is one of them. He has been using the Lanshan 1 pro continuously for 3 years now and I was concerned about the reduced strength and uv deterioration of the tent from intense use on the plateau so I asked him if he would like to replace it with a new one, which he appreciated but declined to update. I do understand that this is an idea to eliminate waste and fits my perception of him.

I've been following his adventures in South America, starting in his native Argentina and now in Bolivia. Not only are his photos of epic landscapes, those views are hard to see on travel websites. Most importantly he also focuses on the lives of the locals and some community issues. These insights gave rise to my experience of trekking in the Himalayas, where my focus was more on the problems of the local people's lives than the soaring snow-capped mountains and glaciers. In his sharing, I learned that in the highlands of South America, the decline of many communities is attributed to environmental degradation, water shortages, and sanitation issues. People have had to migrate to places that are better suited to life. With nature as the only paradise for us hikers, we all eventually turn our attention to how we can protect the ecosystem, or at least keep it from continuing to deteriorate.

Gonzalo's photos give us a reminder that at least out of the bustling cities, the environment is still deteriorating all the time and there are many people who have to abandon their homes because of it. We must do something about it.
